I have been a licensed cosmetologist with 30 years in the business. While my children were growing up, I worked for many theater productions doing the hair of the entire cast. My volunteer work included Christian Youth Theatre, McGees Middle School, West Johnston and Clayton High Schools, and West Johnston Dance Team where I learned to replicate even the most elaborate historical hairstyles. With all my experience with large casts, a large wedding party is an easy task.

I continue to enjoy conquering the most difficult hair.  I delight in the challenge when clients tell me that their hair is impossible, won't hold a curl,  is too thin for beautiful styles, or is untameable.

I have done hair for multiple settings, including weddings, proms, photo shoots, pageants, and special events. My specialty, however, is bridal hair. With each bride, I offer a complete package. Not only do I style hair the "day of," but I also provide pre-wedding consultations. The bride is always the top priority. The first thing I do in each consultation is ask the bride what her expectations are, and from there I work hard to not only meet those expectations but to exceed them. My biggest reward is seeing the reaction on the groom's face as the bride walks down the aisle. It is the greatest acknowledgment of a job well done.

After many years of having brides in my "chair," preparing them for their big day,  I have found not one is nervous about what the future holds.  When she finds out I have been married for over 30 years and have raised six children, she usually asks me if I am happy... and what is the secret to that happiness.  I am not an expert, but I do know a thing or two of what goes into my successful marriage, especially the "what not to do" aspects.  I will give advice if asked.  I have had the encouragement of having great role models in my life (both my parents and in-laws have been married for 60 yrs), and I have an excellent support system in place.  When I don't have all the answers, I have great resources and a wealth of experience to guide me.

Think of this page as my "chair" and feel free to ask me anything about marriage, children, having babies (I am a certified Doula), and family matters (I was born into a family of 10 and was adopted by a family of 7).  I also married into a large family and had a large family myself, homeschooling (I've homeschooled all of my children at some point, and I substitute teach in the local schools in my area), and then, of course, hair and style. I've got a tremendous amount of life experience. I care greatly for people and want to help out any way I can.  I am straightforward, so be prepared for honest answers from my point of view.   Ask your questions here, or send me an email at liz@weddinghairbyliz.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!
